On Sunday, such a sad day, I was released from my calling in Young Womens. I was called as....the primary chorister. Uh yikes?!
As I was walking down the hall after sacrament meeting people kept stopping to congratulate me. Uhm thanks? Kirk said only one person opposed to me having the calling. ** It was a 10 year old kid (maybe he just raised his arm to late?) although I think I may have almost subconsciously raised my hand too..
Our ward has about 20 little ones ranging from 3 to 12 years old, and lucky lucky for me they LOVE to sing! I'm pretty sure our tiny primary could out sing just about any other primary out there.
The primary program is in 3 months, and I have 2(?) new songs to teach before then.
I'm used to my 12 to 18 year olds who sit still, and mostly listen quietly. We'll see how I handle the little ones who just squirm all the time.
Oh wish me luck.
**Upon further review, this small boy was in fact opposing my being in this calling. Kirk, who saw it happen said he wasn't just late on the sustaining. It was definitely opposition.

You're going to rock that calling!!!! The new songs before the program are easy ones that your kids probably know already, so don't stress. Just make singing time fun, use lots of games and visuals, and the kids will be so engaged you won't mind the fact that they're wiggling because you'll be having fun singing with them!
ReplyDeleteI've been in Primary for 4 years now, 3 of those years as President. Sometimes I feel trapped in Primary. Sometimes I love it to pieces. It all depends on my outlook.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
Courtney is the primary chorister in her ward too! Maybe you guys can coordinate and come up with ideas together!
