50 Things I Want For My Little Brother

This morning I've been feeling some 'Big Sister Anxiety' as my little brother is in Sacramento going through MEPS to join the Air Force. I have enough friends and family with loved ones in the Military to know that what's ahead for him isn't going to be easy, and I just want to protect him for all the hard things that are coming his way. I realize he doesn't need to be protected, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to climb in my car right now and drive to get him and bring him home. While I can't protect him, I can tell him how much I love him. As I anticipate his 18th birthday, high school graduation, and Air Force departure and graduation, I realize I don't actually have that much longer to be around him on a daily basis, and I don't feel like I'm ready for that. Though the divorce has been difficult, one of the best things to come from it is being able to be around my brothers, and continue to build a closer relationship with them.

I was wandering around on Pinterest and found 50 Things I Want For My Little Sister and tried to find something similar but towards brothers. I'm not the best at putting things into words, so I frequently just use other peoples perfect words. In this case, I couldn't just copy paste something that was already written, so that left me to come up with my own words. Some of these things did come from the aforementioned list, but some of it is my own. Love you Little Brother.

One that will laugh with him, and comfort him when he struggles as a man and husband, and will always forgive him.
45. Children that have his blue eyes, and gigantic heart. May they understand how lucky they are to have such an incredible person for a father and role model.

47. Family traditions, both new and continued. The birthdays, Halloween, Christmas, and 4th of Julys.
48.  May his children love each other as much as I love him (and our other brothers). May they know the heart consuming, never ending love of a sibling. To watch his babies fight and scream at each other, but always come back together with unconditional forgiving. To know that he'll rarely have to stand up for his children, because they'll do it for each other. Let him watch the relationship between his children, and be reminded of ours.
49. Let him be respected for his choice to serve his country, freely and without obligation. May he be celebrated for protecting our freedom. Always let him be protected while he's away from home, and let him feel the strength and love of his family. Let others express their gratitude and appreciation for him, that he might know his choice wasn't in vain.
50. That he knows of my eternal love for him. May he always know that I will be there for him forever. That I will celebrate with him, laugh with him, and cry with him. That I will brag about my brother, hero, and Airman to anyone that will listen. I will dance with him at his wedding, eat pizza on the floor of his new home, and love his wife like a sister. I will hold his babies in my arms like I held him, and cry at the wonder that is my new niece or nephew. I will always babysit for him so he can  have time with the mother of his children, and support him in any way I can. I will teach my children about their amazing uncle, and always have my daughters picked up for their dates at his house while he's cleaning his guns.

That is what I wish for my Little Brother.
